I think it's a BIT overly charitable. At this point when Stella has crossed the line into wanting Stolas dead, I think that's pretty much the creator's way of telling us that she will function as a villain character. I mean sure, we can understand why she wants it, she is trapped in her royal lifestyle, and she thinks that Stolas's unwillingness to play along with this role is spoiling the royal prestige which they're supposed to be owed.
But I don't think that there is enough to work with there to make her sympathetic, given that she wants to have the father of her child murdered, so I don't think they're gonna bother trying making her such.
I was fully ready to see Stella get some more nuanced portrayal earlier on, but at this stage I don't think there would be much point to it, she has consistently been framed as the colder on of the parents, and whilst that doesn't prove much, it still shows the intention of the creators for her in the show.
Stolas is also an alledged abuser, rapist, and murderer.
@Godzillavkk He kind of is, but Blitzo is almost all of those things as well, he even credibly threatened to rape Moxxie. At least Stolas has the excuse that he may literally be to dumb to understand that Blitzo doesn't like him(or at least claims not to), and thinks he's just playing hard to get, whereas Blitzo literally threatened to rape Moxxie and Millie as a form of punishment.
Stolas is still framed as a character we're supposed to like, and people do like him. I don't see that changing, narratively.
Was Angel playing hard to get?
No?
No one plays hard to get.
A lot of people suspect that Blitzo initially tried his best to seduce Stolas until he could snag the book after the one-night-stand.
Remember that Stolas is colossally stupid to the point where everyone around him can tell him to stop flirting with Blitzo, and he'll still act surprised when his daughter finally has enough of it and starts crying.
Remember he thought taking her to Loo Loo Land was a good idea even though she clearly said it wasn't.
Remember that he is so oblivious he didn't realize Blitzo was in actual danger when he was running from Martha, and that he kept rambling long after Blitzo was no longer there to listen.
Remember he has so little social tact that he'll flirt with Blitzo in the middle of his Harvest Moon Festival speech.
Stolas is frigging insane dude. So setting aside how often "playing hard to get" is a thing that happen IRL, some people at least think it happens. So that could at least be enough to somewhat excuse Stolas's intentions when pushing Blitzo into sex, even though it's obviously kind of rapey and not at all responsible no matter how you look at it or what you assume he believes about it.
And think what you will about him, he's still not been narratively framed as a villain antagonist, and I don't think he suddenly will be.
Stolas was trying to bond with her. But the rest of the time, he's shown to be quite condescending, abusive, and even manipulative. And he views Blitzo as a toy.
I pretty much already agree.
What do you think?
