Beelzejuice is a mead produced in Hell, and is the favorite drink of Verosika Mayday and Beelzebub herself.
Description[]
Serving as an alcoholic beverage for demons in Hell, the specifics of what Beelzejuice is, and its properties are not fully known. The liquid itself appears yellow with a faint glow, both in its pure form and when mixed with water. It also seems to make buzzing noises, likely as a reference to its namesake.
Beelzejuice is a form of alcohol strong enough to intoxicate the demons of Hell, even with their increased resistance to physical harm. It is considered addictive, though it is unclear if this is merely alcoholism as experienced on Earth or something more unique to Hell's beverages.
The beverage has mutagenic properties when exposed to life native to Earth, capable of mutating creatures, such as the catfish in "Spring Broken", to enormous sizes and giving them monstrous and dangerous traits. However it is unclear what effects the beverage would have on humans, as what appears to spill onto the crowd from Verosika's flask is not enough to trigger a response.
There is limited Sinsmas edition flavor for Beelzejuice, called "Glut-honey", a carbonated version of the original with natural flavors.
History[]
In "Spring Broken", Verosika Mayday was continually drinking from a flask of Beelzejuice. Later in the episode on an Earthly beach, Verosika throws her flask, which ends up in the nearby ocean where it is exposed to a catfish, mutating it to a gigantic size, and giving it bioluminescent glowing features and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth combined with a barbed tongue, and begins to causing chaos as a result.
In "Queen Bee" the beverage is drank by many of the guests of Beelzebub's party. Later in the episode Beelzebub herself has a drinking competition with Blitzo, with Blitzo being the winner, using kegs of Beelzejuice from Beelzebub's personal stash.
Beelzejuice is shown to be available at Husk's bar at the Hazbin Hotel, with a neon sign prominently displaying it.
In "Mastermind", Stolas is seen with a bottle of Beelzejuice on the table while watching the news.
In "Sinsmas", Loona, Gigi, and Russ were shown drinking Beelzejuice for the Sinsmas party.
Trivia[]
- The name of the beverage appears to be connected to Beelzebub and the Gluttony Ring, as it can be seen around the interior of Beelzebub's mansion.
- This is befitting, considering how Beelzebub is known as the "Queen of Gluttony".
- It may also be a reference to Beetlejuice, a franchise and a musical which Alex Brightman, who played Fizzarolli and Robo Fizz, starred in.
- The name of the limited edition "Glut-honey" is a portmanteau of the sin, Gluttony, and honey.
