"Elevator 666 departing for Lust in five minutes."
―Elevator intercom

The elevator is a mode of transportation for Hellborn Demons in Hell to traverse the Seven Rings.

Description[]

The elevator is a structure of unknown size that facilitates the transportation of demons from one ring of hell to another. The structure is constructed with a golden aesthetic throughout, with the entire structure seemingly being maintained to a high standard, with no evidence of damage or decay.

Transportation is arranged by the presence of oversized elevators. The arrival and departure of these lifts are announced by a public intercom system, with digital displays throughout the elevator structure displaying the arrival and departure times of the aforementioned elevators. Each displayed location on the displays is color-coded with the corresponding ring of hell that is the intended destination.

Each elevator is a large space with an array of standing spaces and lounge-style chairs, allowing passengers to sit and rest while in transit.

It is unknown if this elevator system is a luxury, private, or public transport system, if alternative transport methods are available, or if the system allows for cargo or other personal effects.

No sinners are witnessed being within the premises of the elevator structure, only hellborn species such as imps have been witnessed inside the structure. It is unknown if sinners are prevented from gaining access to the structure through some form of magic or physical security systems.

Trivia[]

  • The existence of the service itself suggests that the Rings of Hell are stacked atop one another.
    • It is shown the first floor of the elevator system is in the Pride Ring. As mentioned in a tweet, the Pride Ring is the top Ring in Hell.[1]
    • It was mentioned that the Rings of Hell are not stacked atop each other,[citation needed] but they still use an elevator to traverse them.
    • As shown in the episode "Exes and Oohs", it is possible to travel to the Greed Ring from the Pride Ring in a helicopter via a helicopter hangar.
    • In the episode "Western Energy" it is shown that it is possible to cross to the Wrath Ring from the Pride Ring through natural quarries, abysses or mines.
    • It was shown in the episode "Western Energy" that a train can pass directly through to the Wrath Ring from the Pride Ring. In "Hell's Belles", a bus can also be used as an alternative transportation as shown through the Pride Ring from the Wrath Ring.
  • It is possible that the elevator is associated with Lucifer, due to the presence of apple and angelic wings decorating in the architecture.
  • The Rings of Hell are color-coded on the signs, based on the rainbow.[2] They are ordered from top to bottom.
    • The levels shown are as follows: Pride (red), Wrath (orange), Gluttony (yellow), Greed (green), Lust (blue), Envy (purple), and Sloth (pink).
  • The elevator shares the same voice actor as Martha and a few of the minor characters with all being voiced by Jinkx Monsoon.
