"Oh-ho, yeah, this place is gonna be ripe with fuckable spirits."
Blitzo's reaction to the One Star Wonder

Ghostf**kers is the tenth episode of the second season of Helluva Boss and the eighteenth episode overall. It premiered on October 31, 2024, on Vivziepop's YouTube channel.[1]

Synopsis[]

Millie helps Blitzo deal with his NOT-breakup and things happen!

Plot[]

On a typical day at work, Millie is being her joyful self bringing in coffee and a Frappuccino to I.M.P Headquarters. When she comes into the offices, she notices Loona is a mess, completely sleep deprived, and miserable as always, with a barrel of fire burning owls. She was in the office all night burning two hundred taxidermy owls, only to be more distressed when Wally Wackford brings in an order for a hundred more taxidermy owls. Millie was annoyed because her boss, Blitzo, was still sulking after his bad "not-breakup" with Stolas, for a month. What's even worse is that I.M.P is about to be bankrupted because of Blitzo's careless spending on taxidermy owls and plates with realistic horses, meaning that they haven't paid their lease to rent out the I.M.P Headquarters, and if they don't pay by the end of the month, they'll be audited, evicted, and out of a job.

Her husband, Moxxie, is having a breakdown after staying the night working through stack of papers to see what they can do to get their finances squared away. Millie questions Blitzo's physical and mental health before deciding to check on him. Blitzo is sulking in his chained-off (from the inside) office, eating processed cheese spray and loads of spicy ice cream while watching a human porn series called "Ghostfuckers" starring Bethany Ghostfucker. Millie, having enough of Blitzo's depression, marches right into his office and tries to snap him out of his depression from his not-breakup. Then from over the phone, we learn a recently killed Sinner Demon, Rita, came to I.M.P claiming that she was killed by a ghost who was haunting a hotel called the One Star Wonder Hotel. Millie tries to explain and when humans die, they either end up in Heaven or Hell, to a non-understanding Rita. To this lack of understanding from the Sinner, Loona exclaims that Millie is telling her ghosts aren't real. Blitzo, at the mention of ghosts, suddenly crashes out of his office in excitement, asking where the ghost was so he could "hunt". Despite Millie being reluctant to accept the offer, she went along with it anyway because Blitzo needed something to get out of his depression (and his office). Millie asks Loona to keep an eye on Moxxie because he's still going crazy in fear of a bankruptcy. Blitzo activates the Asmodean Crystal and then crashes into the graveyard at hotel.

At the One Wonder Star, the hotel manager, Rolando, greets Blitzo and Millie, explaining that some of his guests have been killed and wants the culprit caught or killed. Blitzo, disguised as Bethany, and Millie, disguised as camera man, goes looking for the ghost. However, things have turned out to be not as it seems since every time they tried to find one, they ended up disturbing guests, which cultivated in a music montage, and every montage, Millie gets more angrier with each scene until the imps manage to get away from the humans and escape into the air ducts. Millie has finally had it and no longer wants to play 'sex ghosts' with him anymore. She admonishes Blitzo because he was being pathetic trying to cope with his not-breakup despite the state the company's in, and leaves him to get the job done and pay the lease. Blitzo, separating from Millie, enters an illusion where the vent he is in becomes covered in oil (though it could be Imp blood) and begins tilting upwards until he falls, ending up in a hallway. After scolding what he thinks is Millie, Blitzo starts having horrifying, mocking hallucinations of moments Millie could have died, which each tell him that he's a burden upon others. After running away down endless corridors, he encounters a vision of his dead mother burning away to the bones, before having a mental breakdown. Millie hears his screams and rushes over to the room, and Blitzo confesses his destructive thoughts that everything and everyone he loved is destroyed by him, that he makes everyone's lives worse. Millie tries to comfort him by reminding him of the day when they first met.

Years ago, Millie was a freelance assassin in the Wrath Ring when she poached a hit Blitzo and Moxxie were after. Blitzo tracked her down to which Millie initiated a bar fight, ending in him recruiting her after to seeing potential in her, and officially forming I.M.P. Later, on the first day that I.M.P moved to the pride ring, Millie is confused by the quality of work they've been given as she was convinced that wrathians like them aren't cut out for business here. and that she's only good at being the muscle of the group. Blitzo tells her that she's wrong and that's she's stronger and smarter than anyone he's ever met and if they couldn't have made it in the pride ring, then nobody could've. Back in the present, Millie finally manages to talk over with Blitzo's insecurities and how much he means for her, giving her everything she could have ever wanted. She was in debt to Blitzo for making her life so fun, reassuring him that he is her best friend. After Blitzo gets back on his feet and the two start discussing what the 'spooky ghost' actually is, Rolando, revealed to be a Infestor Demon, attacks them after they deduced his identity. He gets into Blitzo's head, and psychologically torments him with a movie showing him how many people he's failed over his life. Rolando possess Blitzo and attacks Millie, but she manages to overpower him and beats him senselessly until Rolando couldn't take it and forces himself out of his possession. Blitzo grabs the vacuum and knocks Rolando into the hotel pool before throwing the vacuum into the pool, causing a short-circuit that kills Rolando for good.

With the target dead, Blitzo and Millie are pushing the van back to the portal into Hell, and Blitzo mentions Millie's "best friend" comment, touched yet surprised since it would be the first friend he had that he "didn't want to fuck", and to this Millie asks if he's going to keep trying playfully to be the third in her and Moxxie's relationship, to which he surprisingly says he won't even admitting how things ended with Stolas really got to him. When asked if he would stop stalking them, he implies he will continue because Moxxie is still "a little fuckable". Meanwhile, Moxxie, after another recalculation, was overjoyed that he managed to figure out the financial math problem that he's been trying to solve until Loona checks his work and points out that he forgot to carry the two. Moxxie, in a complete breakdown, prepares to douse the office and the papers with gasoline until Loona interrupts, cooling him down with a blanket, ice cream, and a pornographic musical called "Ghostfuckers The Musical".

Trivia[]

  • It is shown that, sometime after the events of "Apology Tour", Blitzo had spiraled down into a deep depression, coping with it by buying expensive collectibles, driving I.M.P to near-bankruptcy, and watching an Earthly show called "Ghostfuckers", while eating ice cream with cheese whiz, at the seclusion part of his office.
  • Loona's name on her coffee is mispelled as "Luna".
    • Loona's coffee also contains a visible bone-shaped treat. These are a thing in real life and are called "Pup cups," which are served to dogs by coffee shops and ice cream parlors.
  • This episode confirms that ghosts don't exist, as when humans die, they go either to Heaven or Hell, therefore being unable to linger on Earth as a spirit.
  • Through Blitzo's memories when Rolando is inside him, it is revealed that, not long after Blitzo accidentally burned down the circus, Cash Buckzo hit him, clearly blaming him for both the loss of his wife and their home.
    • It is also revealed that Cash prevented his son from visiting Fizzarolli in the hospital and likely convinced him Fizz didn't want to see him, in this way indirectly instigating the rift between them that lasted for fifteen years until the episode "Oops".
  • The voice actress of Bethany Ghostfucker is Erika Henningsen, who also voices the main character of Hazbin Hotel, Charlie Morningstar.
  • For the hallucination that had multiple versions of Millie, it was Arielle Somerville's idea to make them callbacks to past episodes.[2]
  • Blitzo saying "Fuck hotels!" at the end of the episode is quite ironic as Erika Henningsen, Charlie Morningstar's voice in Hazbin Hotel and owner of the eponymous hotel, is starring in this episode.
  • When Millie begins beating up Rolando in Blitzo's body, she says "Buckle up, buttercup". This is the same line Vaggie said in Hazbin Hotel, where she tells the hotel's staff and patrons to prepare to fight in the Doomsday Section of Pentagram City.

Cultural references[]

  • The title of the episode and the in-universe show Blitzo adopts the Bethany moniker from is a reference to the hit franchise Ghostbusters.
  • The vacuum Blitzo uses as part of his disguise may be a reference to the Poltergust 3000 from Nintendo's Luigi's Mansion.
  • The chase sequence and its music are based on those from the Scooby-Doo franchise.
  • Toledo the Igor is a reference to Igor, a stock henchman character famously associated with the Universal Frankenstein films.
  • A young boy in the hotel dining hall wears an outfit similar to Eric Cartman from South Park.
  • When Rolando forces Blitzo to open his eyes in the memory theater, a cartoon drooping sound effect, often known as the boowomp from SpongeBob SquarePants can be heard, which was added unbeknownst to Vivziepop and missed in the team's audio reviews.[3]
  • The phrase Blitzo says, "Get in, loser, we're going ghostfucking", to Millie is a reference to the iconic phrase, "Get in, loser, we're going shopping", from the 2004 film Mean Girls.

Continuity[]

  • This episode happens one month after the events of "Apology Tour".
  • Moxxie's name on his coffee is misspelled "Foxxie", referencing his post from his non-canon Voxtagram account and a callback to "Truth Seekers".
    • The list on his coffee is also extremely long compared to Loona and Blitz's, which is also a clear reference to "Truth Seekers".
  • Verosika's crew are seen in the hallway of I.M.P Headquarters with Verosika's office shown, indicating they still work there since the events of "Spring Broken".
  • All the different illusions of Millie (excluding the faceless one) Blitzo is haunted by are depictions of Millie if she were killed in previous episodes:
    • The version of Millie with glass shards is her if she was killed by the glass bottle Ralphie had in "Murder Family".
    • The version of Millie with burnt scraps of skin is her if she was killed in the fiery explosion that happened at Loo Loo Land during the episode of "Loo Loo Land".
    • The version of Millie with digested purple skin and white eyes is her if she was eaten and digested by the Catfish Monster back in "Spring Broken".
    • The version of Millie with golden arrows impaling her is her if the C.H.E.R.U.B had successfully shot her with their angelic arrows in "C.H.E.R.U.B".
    • The version of Millie with an injured right arm and a missing left leg is her if she was injured any further by Striker in "The Harvest Moon Festival".
      • Coincidentally, these illusions appear and speak in the same chronological order as the episodes they are from ("Murder Family" Millie appears first, then "Loo Loo Land" Millie, and so on).
  • The moment in Millie's flashback where Blitzo is showing his team their new space for I.M.P, he is seen holding Stolas' grimoire, with it happening possibly soon after the events of the flashback of "The Circus".
  • During the scene where Rolando is tormenting Blitzo with his own insecurities, scenes from the following previous episodes are shown: "Murder Family", "Spring Broken", "Truth Seekers", "Ozzie's", "Seeing Stars", "Unhappy Campers", "Oops", "The Full Moon" and "Apology Tour".
    • All scenes that are presented are seen through Blitzo's own perspective.
  • The electric eels from "Murder Family" are seen alive in their tank in Blitzo's flashback to first day I.M.P was in the their headquarters.

Errors[]

  • Rolando incorrectly refers to Holly's Wood as its real-life counterpart, Hollywood.
