Hear My Hope is the only song featured in the Hazbin Hotel season two episode "Curtain Call", sung by the Hotel crew, the Overlords, and Emily using their powers to contain and neutralize the Might of Lilith, and later by Abel and Lute, in which Abel stops Lute from ruining their efforts.

Abel's solo section was also released as a separate track on the Bonus Edition of the season 2 soundtrack.

Lyrics[]

Emily: Hear my hope
Let it echo
In every soul that needs
Something to believe

Charlie and Emily: Take my hand
Never let go
Even one soft sound can shake the hardest ground

And even if we die striving to find the peace we lost
At least we'll know we tried
Didn't stand by with fingers crossed

Charlie, Emily, and Husk: Raise your voice
Light the fire
'Til our hopes and fears reach a billion ears

Charlie, Emily, Husk, and Niffty: Lend your breath
Join the choir
Let the music span o'er this broken land

Charlie, Emily, Husk, Niffty, and Vaggie: And many years from now if any live to hear this song
Charlie, Emily, Husk, Niffty, Vaggie, Angel Dust, Cherri Bomb, and Baxter: A story about how all Hell joined hands and sang along
It begins with just one note
A crescendo 'til the end no matter
What it takes to stay afloat

Hear my hope

Lute: Hahahaha
Hahahaha (Sanctus)

Vaggie: What are you doing here?
Lute: I'm here to finish what I started!
Abel: Let's get Emily and go!

Charlie: No! How can you be so cold-hearted? (Dominus)
Vaggie: Everybody dies if we don't do this!

Lute: And so be it!
Don't resist!
Vaggie: Or what?
Lute: I'll take your other eye!
Vaggie: Just try!

Abel: Lute, this isn't what we talked about! (Vindictus)
Emily: Abel, please!
Charlie: We don't have time for this!
Lute: Shut your mouth, abomination!

Vaggie: Abel, you can stop this!
Charlie: Abel...
Emily: Abel, please!

Lute: Enough! (screams)

Abel: Can't breathe, vision's gettin' blurry now
Nosebleed, never been so worried,
How am I supposed to handle the pressure?
It would've been better if I were anybody else!

Dear Dad, tell me what you would've done
Too bad that I'm not your braver son
Why'd I have to be picked to lead?
I wish that I could be anybody else!

I'm supposed to do something
Am I, am I supposed to do something?

Do I run? Do I dare?
Can I grant my own prayer?
Get a grip, grow a pair

Let me stop you right there!

There's no cause for attack
Swallow your pride
Cast your blood lust aside

Abel and Adam: Bitch, you better fall back!

Emily: I can't hold it much longer...
Charlie: We got you
Vaggie: We need to be stronger...
Husk: We've done all we can, there's no way... (Niffty and Angel Dust: No way...)
Cherri Bomb: No one left to save the day
Charlie: ...It's okay

Carmilla Carmine: You would risk your life
Zestial: For souls that Heaven sought to kill...
Carmilla and Zestial: We cannot just stand by
It's time to match your strength of will!

Everyone: Hear my hope (Overlords: Save us from harm)
Let it echo
In every soul that needs (Overlords: Lay down our arms)
Something to believe

Take my hand (Overlords: Just for a day)
Never let go
Even one soft sound (Overlords: Put war away)
Can shake the hardest ground

Rosie: Why don't you help them
You double-dealing manipulator?

Alastor: What's in it for me?
I don't work for free
You want help?
Well, you know the fee!

Rosie: I will not reward a snake like you
Alastor: You'll watch them die unless you do!
Rosie: Liar! You wouldn't dare!
Alastor: Quid pro quo, it's only fair!

Rosie: You really are a demon, pet
Alastor: You knew my game the day we met

Everyone: Hear my hope!
Let it thunder!
Across this prideful ring
'Til every last soul sings

Velvette: Ah, fuck it, come on

Everyone: Take my hand (Valentino and Velvette: We'll take your hand)
Feel the wonder (Vox: Wait, what?)
In perfect harmony (Valentino and Velvette: Not what we planned)
We'll change our destiny (Vox: What the fuck is happening?)

And many years from now, if any live to hear this song (Valentino and Velvette: If we live!)
The story about how we learned together (Vox: Stop it, right now!)
We are strong (Vox: No, no-no-no, no, no!)

It began with just one note! (Vox: Stop it! I hate this!)
A crescendo 'til the end
No matter what it takes! (Vox: You're ruining everything!)

Hear my hope!

Abel: Can't breathe, vision's gettin' blurry now
Nosebleed, never been so worried,
How am I supposed to handle the pressure?
It would've been better if I were anybody else!

Dear Dad, tell me what you would've done
Too bad that I'm not your braver son
Why'd I have to be picked to lead?
I wish that I could be anybody else!

I'm supposed to do something
Am I, am I supposed to do something?

Do I run? Do I dare?
Can I grant my own prayer?
Get a grip, grow a pair

Let me stop you right there!

There's no cause for attack
Swallow your pride
Cast your blood lust aside

Abel and Adam: Bitch, you better fall back!

Trivia[]

  • In a Polygon Interview, Sam Haft stated that the songs serves a physical and a mechanical purpose. In which it is the first song in the show that really explicitly taps into something that's alluded to throughout the show, about music and power. And that there are implications in this song that the characters' voices and their music give them power, and this song is the first example of it being seen.[1]
  • Sam Haft had also stated in a Polygon Interview that he "feels that singing carries more weight and holds more power, and this song is just making it explicit that singing has the power to affect the world around you, the power to convince someone of something they otherwise would not have been convinced by, like the power to decide to seek revenge or the power to decide to forgive. The idea that music has power is very straightforward on an emotional level, and it's very fun to have a property that treats it not just as emotionally powerful, but as something that will affect the physical world".[1]
  • Sam Haft and Andrew Underberg stated that this song was like the runtime of three songs into one and what is really special about it is that it really doesn't have a proper song structure but it has this bug chorus refrain and instead of having verses it has just things that happen like the main chorus and the parts when Lute attacks and Abels part, and Alastor's confrontation Rosie. The main point of this song is to feel more enormous than the other songs of the Season in a way that none of the other songs have been before and the point of this song was about voices coming together and being heard since the moment the song came on the page, and the singing is very digetic and serves a purpose since their singing is conjuring power, since there is so much plot in this since the last piece of this song's climax is set to music.[2][3]
  • This song was teased in Hazbin Hotel: Live on Broadway hosted by Vivienne Medrano, Sam Haft, Richard Horvitz and the cast of the Hazbin Hotel series.
  • This is the longest song in the Hazbin Hotel series.
    • The song is also longer than any songs heard in Helluva Boss, making it the longest song throughout the entirety of the Hellaverse.
  • Instrumentals from Gravity can be heard when Lute appears.
  • In Abel's solo during this song, it has the same melody as Hell is Forever.
    • Abel's line "Let me stop you right there!" is also a reference to Hell is Forever, as it's what Adam says after cutting off Charlie, "Let me stop you right there, save us all precious time."
  • Despite not making an official appearance, Abel’s brother, Cain, is possibly referenced during his part.
    • It is also possible that this is a reference to Seth, however, it is unlikely due to Abel and Seth not having a large connection.
