It Starts With Sorry is the second of two songs featured in the Hazbin Hotel season one episode "Radio Killed the Video Star", sung by Charlie Morningstar and Sir Pentious, featuring Angel Dust and Vaggie. In it, Charlie expresses the importance of apologizing.

This song was released on Spotify as part of the "Hazbin Hotel Original Soundtrack (Part 1)".

Lyrics[]

Charlie Morningstar: It starts with sorry
That's your foot in the door
One simple sorry
Spoken straight from your core

The path to forgiveness
Is a twisting trail of hearts
But sorry is where it starts

Sir Pentious: Who could forgive a dirtbag like me?
I don't deserve your amnesty

Angel Dust and Vaggie: Can't we just kill him?
Shoot him and spill his blood?

Charlie: That's an... option you could choose

Angel Dust and Vaggie: Works for us!

Charlie: But, who hasn't been in his shoes?
It starts with sorry!

Sir Pentious: Sorry

Charlie: Dig down deeper and say
One sincere sorry

Sir Pentious: I'm so sorry!

Charlie: And your journey's underway!

Both: It'll take time to cover
(Sir Pentious: My vast multitude of sins)
(Charlie: Your vast multitude of sins)
But sorry is where it begins
It starts with sorry

Trivia[]

  • Sam Haft explained that, after the animation was finished, they needed to adjust the song to better suit the animation that they hadn't originally changed from the demo. Originally, the end of the song had a more low-key and intimate sound, but when they saw the animation, specifically the part where Sir Pentious' sinful moments exploded into fireworks, they realized they needed to change the music to make that moment feel grander.[1]
  • Niffty hates the song because it proves to her that Sir Pentious isn't a bad boy like she hoped.
  • Sir Pentious reprises the beginning of the song Live To Live.
