Leviathan is a minor character in Helluva Boss who made her official debut in the episode "Mastermind". She is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, embodying the sin of Envy.
Appearance[]
Leviathan is a two-headed piscine demon with a dichotomy in her anatomy: her body is divided into two, indicated by the left half of her body appearing white and the right half of her body indigo. Both heads share lengthy fin-like white hair styled in a mohawk. However, the left head is more humanoid, has webbed ears and electric blue eyes with black sclera and cyan eyeshadow, while the right is more animalistic, has a longer neck, pupilless seafoam green eyes, and a fanged, eel-like snout. In addition, the left head's hair has faint pink streaks on it with a black strip and violet gradient interior; the right head's hair is bioluminescent, with black streaks on the topside, a dark violet-cyan gradient interior, and green spots scattered across.
Leviathan wears a sleeveless high-collar black crop top with a diamond-shaped cutout and twin downward-facing swirls, the right swirl being violet and the left swirl lavender. She wears a black skirt featuring a semicircle-patterned rim bearing the same color split as the swirls. She also wears elbow-length gloves; black on the left and white on the right. Each head wears a light cyan pearl necklace with only the left head wearing pearl earrings, and has a cyan belt to match.
Personality[]
While the full extent of her personality has yet to be revealed, Leviathan's two heads appear to have independent personalities. The right head is more cynical and more in charge, while the left head appears to be relaxed and composed. The left head was even friendly to Mammon, unlike the right, and got mad when the right head moved them away from him. The relationship of the two heads is further indicated when Mammon invited Leviathan out after Blitzo's trial; the right head showed active annoyance at Mammon and attempted to ignore him, but her left head seemed to genuinely enjoy being around him, and looked hopefully at the right head, indicating that she hoped that she would allow them to take up Mammon's offer.
It is unknown if she shares the same views of superiority as the other deadly sins do. However, she does recognize Satan as her leader and "the law" of Hell.
History[]
Past[]
Not much is known about Leviathan's history other than at some point she joined Lucifer as part of the Deadly Sins, with her embodying the sin of Envy.
Helluva Boss Season 2[]
"Mastermind"[]
Leviathan is present during Blitzo's trial with her fellow sins on the illegal use of Stolas' grimoire. During the trial, Mammon flirts with Leviathan a few times, and the right head moves her seat away from Mammon when he flirts again, to the left head's frustration. When the court votes on whether to continue the trial or execute Blitzo, Leviathan's vote is not shown, but once he is sentenced to execution, Mammon offers to take her out after things wrap up, which gets the left head excited for while the right head recoils. Leviathan is later surprised when Stolas sings that he is the mastermind and manipulated Blitzo's usage of the grimoire. She then watched Mammon grossly eat his food.

Trivia[]
- Leviathan is based on the mythological demon of the same name, who is often depicted as a massive sea serpent or whale.
- In Binsfeld's classification of demons, Leviathan is one of the seven Princes of Hell, representing Envy. Likewise, Leviathan in Helluva Boss is the embodiment of Envy.
- Leviathan having two heads with opposing personalities may be a reference to the concept of two-faced envy, the idea of envy having two aspects: "benign envy" (admiration) and "malicious envy" (resentment).
- The symbol that appears on the back of Leviathan's seat and on the rings Satan uses to strip Stolas' powers is known as the Leviathan's Cross, and is the alchemical symbol for brimstone.
- This symbol can also be seen on Charlie Morningstar's bowtie in the Hazbin Hotel pilot.
- Leviathan is depicted as female in the Hellaverse, as opposed to her real-life demonological counterpart, who is typically portrayed as male. Though, it should be noted that the Book of Enoch (60:7–9) describes Leviathan as a female monster that lives in the watery abyss.
- In Binsfeld's classification of demons, Leviathan is one of the seven Princes of Hell, representing Envy. Likewise, Leviathan in Helluva Boss is the embodiment of Envy.
- According to Vivziepop, Leviathan and Satan were planned to be the most traditional in sticking with the usual themes in terms of design, but at that time of June 26, 2023, she was still working on finalizing them.[1]
- As shown on Blitzo's phone in the episode "Ozzie's", Leviathan's image is used for a TikTok-like app called "Envee".
- Leviathan can be seen with a cigarette holder in her introduction, indicating she is a smoker.
