Loser, Baby is the second of two songs featured in the Hazbin Hotel season one episode "Masquerade", sung by Husk and Angel Dust. In this song, Husk points out that while Angel may feel like his life is ruined, he's not alone, as Husk himself is in a similar position, and encourages Angel to embrace who he is and to move past his self-hatred and self-pity.

This song was released on several music streaming services as part of the "Hazbin Hotel Original Soundtrack (Part 1)".

Lyrics[]

Husk: So things look bad, and your back's against the wall
Your whole existence seems fuckin' hopeless
You're feelin' filthy as a dive bar bathroom stall
Can't face the world sober and dopeless
You've lost your way, you think your life is wrecked
Well, let me just say you're correct!

Angel Dust: Wait, what?

Husk: You're a loser, baby
A loser, goddamn baby
You're a fucked up little whiny bitch

Angel Dust: Hey!

Husk: You're a loser, just like me

Angel Dust: Thanks, asshole.

Husk: You're a screw's-loose-boozer
An only one-star reviews-er
You're a power-bottom at rock bottom
But you got company

Angel Dust: This supposed to make me feel better?

Husk: There was a time I thought that no one could relate
To the gruesome ways in which I'm damaged
But lettin' walls down, it can sometimes set you straight!
We're all livin' in the same shit-sandwich

Angel Dust: I sold my soul to a psychopathic freak
Husk: Haha! And you think that makes you unique?
Get outta here, man!
We're both losers, baby
We're losers, it's okay to be a—

Angel Dust: Coked up, dick-suckin' hoe?
Husk: Baby, that's fine by me

Angel Dust: I'm a loser, honey
A schmoozer and a dummy
But at least I know I'm not alone

Husk: You're a loser
Both: Just like me

Husk: I got an appetite for gamblin'
Angel Dust: I got an appetite for samplin' every drug and sex toy I can find
Husk: Go ahead baby, sing that song, come on!

Angel Dust: I got no holes left to deflower
Husk: I sold my soul to save my power
Now I'm on that demon's leash
Both: I'm trapped and it gets worse with every hour

Angel Dust: You're a loser, baby
Husk: A loser, but just maybe if we
Both: Eat shit together, things will end up differently

Husk: It's time to lose your self-loathin'
(Angel Dust: Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
Excuse yourself, let hope in, baby
Play your card, be who you are

Both: A loser, just like...

Demon: There he is! They're fucking singing?

Trivia[]

  • In the original version of the episode and the Sing-Along video, the last line of the song is cut off. However in the album version, it is completely sung.
  • In "The Show Must Go On", while Angel and Husk are at the bar before the extermination, an instrumental version of the song can be heard while Angel and Husk are talking together.
    • The instrumental returns in "Scream Rain" when Husk quits the Hazbin Hotel, and later when he decides to return after talking with Angel.
  • Sam Haft describes the song as "positive nihilism", explaining it as "everything's fucked, but we're still here and we're not alone", and added that sometimes all you can ask for is to find a found family who can break down your walls and make you smile.[1] Haft also explained that Husk's and Angel's souls both belong to someone, but they aren't in a trauma contest; Husk is not competing with Angel, he is relating to him, and its not "I have it just as bad" but rather "I know how it feels to think this awful shit about yourself".[2]
    • Haft also explained that positive nihilism is something which saved him in a big way when he was going through some hard times.[1]
