- "All right, so we all know how things go right? Humans on Earth do some pretty fucked-up shit, and then they die and they end up in Hell. And sinners all have an idea of what imps are, right? We're little red guys with pitchforks, torturing their souls for all eternity. Well... that's fucking outdated. Most of us are baristas and boring shit, and since we're born here, we kind of get to serve whoever the fuck lands in our backyard. But some of us aim to be a little something more. A little something bigger, something cooler, something...Yeah, cooler. So instead of selling 'em coffee, we're gonna sell 'em... REVENGE!"

Mission: Zero is the canon pilot episode of Helluva Boss. It premiered on September 10, 2025, on Prime Video, and released on Vivziepop's YouTube channel on October 25, 2025.[1]
This episode serves as a new starting point to bring the audience into the Hellaverse, as the original pilot is very inconsistent with the series and the lore. The episode also aims to capture a little bit of the energy of the original pilot.[2][3][4]
Synopsis[]
- The I.M.P. plan their very first assassination on Earth with the help of a demon prince's mystical grimoire.
Plot[]
The episode begins with several criminals up to no good on Earth, while throwing monologues describing how they are a negative influence on society. They are being observed by Blitzo, Moxxie, and Millie from atop a tall building.
Blitzo explains how imps are the working class of Hell, but the three of them strive to be something better and cooler. They descend, catching the criminals by surprise. One of them asks who the imps are, Blitzo explains, then shoots the criminal dead.
At this point, it is revealed the prior event did not really happen and was merely Blitzo describing what they would do on Earth. He and Moxxie argue about their level of professionalism until Millie asks how they are going to get to Earth, which is when Blitzo introduces a grimoire he got by having sex with a demon prince. Moxxie voices his disbelief in Blitzo having plowed a member of the royalty, which Loona overhears, and is disgusted. Blitzo orders his employees to avoid using explicit language in the office, since he views Loona as a child despite her being 22 years old. Blitzo and Moxxie bicker some more, with Blitzo calling Moxxie a virgin, which doesn't sit well with Millie, and they start making out. Loona tells Blitzo a certain Stolas wants to talk to him on the phone.
Blitzo, panicking, takes Stolas' call. Stolas tells Blitzo that he took his grimoire, and that he would stop at nothing to retrieve it. He believes Blitzo took it as an excuse for them to keep having sex, and describes how he wants Blitzo to dominate him sexually, in a very graphic manner. This disturbs Blitzo and Loona, so the former destroys the telephone with a baseball bat full of glass. Stolas, having readied his room for a sexual encounter, became disappointed.
Blitzo returns to the conference room, and asks his employees for ideas on how to execute their first mission. Millie is in favor of brutally murdering everyone, including witnesses and children, then following up with the catchphrase "It's Millie time". Blitzo doesn't like the catchphrase, but is nonetheless willing to kill everyone. Moxxie does not want to kill children, but he is ganged up on by his wife and boss who try to peer pressure him. Loona then yells at Blitzo, and tells him he has a guest in his office.
Inside his office is Stolas, who is only interested in having his voracious sexual appetite satiated, which Blitzo is reluctant to do, since his employees are in the other room. Stolas teases Blitzo that he wasn't reluctant to make a scene the first time and a flashback is shown of Blitzo leaving a sleeping Stolas' bed, taking the grimoire, then climbing some railing, and falling on the cake of Stolas' wife and casually apologizing that he fucked her husband to her face. Back in the present, Stolas explains his wife is still furious, and Blitzo apologizes. He is able to convince Blitzo to have sex with him, while outside the office, Moxxie, Millie, and Loona sit in silence until Moxxie comments about Loona not working and they make fun of him.
After having sex, Stolas says that he had a great time, and he is going to take the grimoire and go back home. Blitzo convinces him to let him keep the grimoire, which Stolas accepts as it means there is a prospect of long-term transactional sex. He leaves, and Blitzo curses, then goes back to his employees to get onto the job.
Moxxie then suggests a plan of being stealthy, efficient, and on-point. He proposes each of the three imps shoot out the lights and shoot each of the targets in the head. Blitzo hates this idea, since there is no action involved. He asks if anyone has a good idea, to which Loona simply suggests they just wing it, which Blitzo accepts, and tells her she's the best. He opens a portal, and the three imps embark, with Loona taking the grimoire and voicing her concern for the company's future.
A rock version of the I.M.P Jingle plays as a montage of I.M.P hits on Earth and various characters from later episodes. The episode ends with the three imps jumping out of the I.M.P van that was driven out a skyscraper, and forming the M in the I.M.P logo.

Trivia[]
- This is the first episode to first release exclusively on Prime Video and to later come to YouTube 45 days later.
- This episode is a prequel to season 1, and recreates parts of the original pilot episode.
- The episode shares some similar scenes that were in the original pilot:
- Both are centered around I.M.P in a meeting.
- Blitzo receives a call from Stolas.
- The scene of Blitzo stealing the grimoire is shown.
- The I.M.P jingle is heard.
- The episode changes some scenes that were in the original pilot as well:
- I.M.P discussing how to approach their first job while in the original pilot they were discussing on new ways to promote their business.
- Stolas calls Blitzo about stealing the grimoire after their night together while in the original pilot he calls Blitzo about a job.
- The episode shares some similar scenes that were in the original pilot:
- The woman that I.M.P ran over during the montage is an animated version of series creator Vivienne Medrano. The witness who later chased them down with a shot-gun is an animated version of series writer and voice of Blitzo, Brandon Rogers, however, appears to differ from his character-counterpart Brennan Ragers.
- In a Bluesky post by Vivziepop, she confirmed that Blitzo's "Sorry I fucked your husband" line when he fell off of Stolas' balcony is the same audio take used in the original pilot, as they felt it was iconic.[5]
- During the I.M.P jingle, when all the various characters are shown in one scene, among them is a new character that hasn't been introduced yet.
- Stolas is revealed to have hollow bones like most birds do.
- Brandon Rogers believes it may have been Amazon's idea to recreate the Helluva Boss pilot, and was part of the deal before Amazon would buy the series.[6]
Cultural References[]
- A shot of Moxxie and Millie making out is a reference to the Yoshi and Toad Kissing meme.
- Millie's suggested catchphrase of "It's Millie Time" that she later uses in the episode may be a reference to the "It's Morbin Time" catchphrase meme created as a fictional line for the film Morbius.
- The pose the animated version of Vivienne Medrano makes when she is killed is a reference to the memed death pose from Family Guy.
Continuity[]
- During Stolas' phone call with Blitzo, one of his bed hangings is shown to be ripped, which reflects how Blitzo rips it to use to blindfold Stolas and tie him to the bed in the second flashback of "The Circus".
Errors[]
- When Stolas visits Blitzo in his office and is moving his legs suggestively, his legs are clipping through his tail.
