- "AN ACCIDENT?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! You always had it out for me because people liked me better! You wanted me gone because you were jealous! Just wanting the spotlight! I looked up to you, I thought you were my best friend... You ruined my life! And, then you just left me. I lost so much because of you. And you selfish piece of shit... You didn't even care!"
- ―Fizzarolli, about the incident
Oops is the sixth episode of the second season of Helluva Boss and is the fourteenth episode overall. It premiered on September 9, 2023, on Vivziepop's YouTube channel.[1]
Synopsis[]
- Fizz goes to buy milk, and things sure do happen.
Plot[]
One morning in Lust, Fizzarolli and Asmodeus are lying together asleep in bed until Fizzarolli is woken up by an alarm clock that he proceeds to destroy. He then extends his arms moving all throughout Asmodeus' palace until they reach the kitchen where he fills a cup with some brewed coffee; he then brings the coffee pot back where he sits it on a nearby nightstand. After donning a morning jester cap, Fizzarolli drinks from the pot and then jumps up to the ceiling and wakes up Asmodeus with an airhorn.
As Asmodeus begins to clothe himself, Fizzarolli begins reading off an itinerary of appointments he scheduled for Asmodeus throughout the day including a meeting with Prince Stolas during lunch. After Fizzarolli offers to make breakfast, Asmodeus tells Fizzarolli that he's not to cook anything after a prior incident and the two continue flirting as they approach the kitchen.
While Asmodeus cooks, Fizzarolli notices a magazine with pictures of them both in a loving embrace; he quickly discards it in a nearby trash can & throws the can out the window. As they have breakfast, Asmodeus is nervous about Fizzarolli going out on his own to run a few errands; eventually, Fizzarolli is able to convince Asmodeus to let him go, promising to keep a low profile. As they cuddle, one of Asmodeus' assistants comes in with several shipments of items only to be told by both to leave & give them some privacy.
Upon arriving in Greed, Fizzarolli immediately goes and causes several folks to stare at him as he walks his pet quieves down the street while to the store; he absentmindedly comments how it is nice to keep a low profile while knocking over other imps and demons. Just ahead, Blitzo is thrown onto the sidewalk after getting kicked out of a coffee shop; the two notice each other and immediately begin trading insults with the other. After Fizzaroli makes a remark about their time at the circus, Blitzo immediately jumps him and the two begin to fight.
In a nearby building, Crimson is seen interviewing Striker about a job. Striker mentions having captured a royal the week prior, but Crimson derides him for not killing the royal. Striker brushes it aside, maintaining that he has a body count in the hundreds. While Crimson thinks it over, Striker hears a commotion outside and notices both Blitzo and Fizzarolli fighting in the street; hearing that Crimson wants something of value to consider hiring him, Striker lassos the two imps and pulls them to the meeting room. Crimson recognizes both Blitzo and Fizzarolli, hiring Striker on the spot while the latter runs a blade over Fizzarolli's throat.
After a busy morning at his vibrator factory, Asmodeus meets with Stolas. He greets the prince and mentions their prior encounter at Ozzie's, wondering if Stolas is still seeing Blitzo. Stolas brings up his feelings towards the imp as well as a request to get an Asmodean Crystal for Blitzo so he can use it for his business requests. While Asmodeus is sympathetic to Stolas, he refuses the request due to the history between Fizzarolli and Blitzo. Just then, a call comes in from Fizzarolli's phone but when Asmodeus answers it, Crimson is on the other line. He reveals that he is holding Fizzarolli captive and will be sending a lawyer over with his demands in exchange for Fizzarolli's freedom. Asmodeus roars in anger as the recording comes to an end, the last line being that Asmodeus has until 3am to sign the contract.
Blitzo and Fizzarolli are tied up and thrown into a shark cage; while Fizzarolli hyperventilates and panics, Blitzo insults him for not keeping a clear head and that Asmodeus will do anything to keep him alive. Incensed, Fizzarolli throws it back at Blitzo regarding his relationship with Stolas; Blitzo brushes it aside and says it is nothing more than a sex thing Stolas is into. When Fizzarolli probes deeper as to why he was with Stolas at Ozzie's, Blitzo sidesteps it and says he was at Ozzie's for different reasons. Eventually, Striker tells them both to shut up and calls them disgraces for having relations with demons outside their caste. Crimson tells Striker to "keep his hands off the merchandise" and as they walk away, Fizzarolli comments how Striker has bad breath.
In Asmodeus' palace, he sits with Crimson's lawyer to sign the contract; with reading being a hobby of his, Stolas offers to look it over and sees that it would give Crimson all of Asmodeus' assets, including his factories and taking Fizzarolli 's head as a decoration. The lawyer, seeing Asmodeus' reaction, quickly says that was to get his attention and brings out the actual contract, much to Stolas' joy and Asmodeus' anger.
As Fizzarolli continues to fail in his attempts to escaping, Blitzo offers to help him; upon Fizzarolli agreeing, Blitzo procures a hidden knife in his boot and cuts them both free. Scouting the warehouse layout, Blitzo comes up with a complex Rube Goldberg style plan that ends up killing most of Crimson's goons and breaks them out of their cage. An angered Crimson orders the surviving goons to capture the two imps, but both Blitzo and Fizzarolli evade them while bringing up their troubled past.
It eventually comes to a point where Fizzarolli brings up Blitzo being jealous of his popularity during their time together in the circus and thought that caused Blitzo to try and get rid of him; thus, leading to a fire starting at Fizzarolli's birthday party that ended up causing a pyrotechnic explosion going off, burning down the circus and costing Fizzarolli his arms, legs, and horns. Tearfully, Blitzo says that the explosion was indeed his fault and apologizes for what happened but that it was truly an accident and he actually tried to get help; Blitzo then reveals that he was caught in the explosion as well and implies that the strained relationship with his sister and what happened to his mother was because of the fire. After getting interrupted by another goon, Fizzaroli understandably asks Blitzo why he never came to Fizzarolli with the truth after fifteen years; when both Blitzo and Fizzarolli reveal they were told that the other had no desire to see either of them, they both realize that misunderstanding was the source of their long-standing feud.
Several hours pass and eventually Stolas is able to broker an agreement with Crimson's lawyer. He then proceeds to take his time reading it, while Asmodeus threatens him and burns the chair Stolas is sitting on.
Despite finding out the truth, Fizzarolli tells Blitzo that it is going to still be hard to forgive him for the accident but admits that his life is not so bad now thanks to his relationship with Asmodeus. Blitzo says he's happy for him, then they are cornered by the rest of Crimson's goons and Striker. As they advance closer, Blitzo tells Fizzarolli to distract them while he works on cutting a hole in the ceiling so they can escape. After Fizzarolli does a song and performance, Blitzo is successful and the two escape, with the warehouse they were being held at collapses on Striker, Crimson and the rest of the goons.
After getting themselves far enough away, Blitzo and Fizzarolli catch their breath and complement each other on their individual roles in the breakout. As they hotwire a car to leave, Fizzarolli is dragged away by a still alive Striker who has been driven mad over his constant failure to beat Blitzo or his employees in a fight. As he threatens to kill Fizzarolli, Striker gets angrier when Fizzarolli makes a comment about being aroused by the situation. Blitzo takes advantage of the distraction and shoots several oil cans behind them; Striker turns to get enveloped by a ball of fire and frantically screams while trying to put out the flames before slithering away. Fizzarolli is slammed against a billboard, damaging both his arms and gets surrounded by flames; Blitzo is able to maneuver over to him using his prior circus training and rescues Fizzarolli from the fire, redeeming himself for the earlier incident. The two bury the hatchet and become friends once more.
As the clock strikes 3am, Asmodeus gets fed up and prepares to attack the lawyer when Fizzarolli returns; Stolas watches them reunite and smugly looks at the lawyer packing before he takes his leave. As the lawyer tries to leave as well, he gets cornered by both Asmodeus and Fizzarolli who presumably kill him. The two leave the room and Fizzarolli notices that people are watching them cuddle but Asmodeus brushes those concerns aside, saying that if they tell anyone that he is dating him, they will have consequences. Asmodeus repairs Fizzarolli's broken limb, telling him about how Stolas wanted a crystal for Blitzo; thinking it over, Fizzarolli tells Asmodeus that he earned it. After Asmodeus replaces Fizzarolli's broken arm, Fizzarolli tells Asmodeus about the new kinks he discovered from the hostage situation. They go to their bedroom as the episode ends.
At the end of the episode, it's revealed that Fizzarolli's quieves returned home safely.

Trivia[]
- This episode has scenes shown in animatics and storyboards from the 2022 trailer, to which some shots were completed and improved.
- As revealed in several concept artwork for this episode, "Oops" was initially supposed to be the seventh episode of the second season.
- This episode features animation outsourced to Toon City Animation in Mandaluyong and Vancouver, making it the second Helluva Boss episode with outsourced animation with the first being "Truth Seekers".
- Fizzarolli's line "meow meow meow meow cuddle meow" and the the bit about Asmodeus' dick size were improv by Alex Brightman,[2] and according to Vivienne as soon as Alex said the "kaiju" part she decided "that's going in the ep for sure".[3]
- It is revealed that when they were younger, Blitzo accidentally and indirectly started the fire that burned down his family's circus during Fizzarolli's birthday, severely wounding the latter, including his horns and limbs, and got him the massive white scar covering his face.
- This reveals that the white markings on imps can come from burned tissue scarring.
- This also indicates that the reason why Fizzarolli has a bit of his natural skin color left on his upper lip was because he still had a clown nose on during the accident.
- Because of this incident, Fizzarolli reveals that the aftermath led him to meet Asmodeus, and according to the morning paper Fizzarolli was reading earlier in the episode, the aftermath also caused the family circus to shut down.
- It is also implied that Blitzo's mother also perished in the fire, which would explain why Barbie presumably holds a grudge against Blitzo.
- This reveals that the white markings on imps can come from burned tissue scarring.
- In the subtitles for the episode it is revealed that the fly-like dog creatures first seen in Valentino's non-canon Voxtagram account are officially called "Quieve", with its plural being "Quieves".
- According to Crimson, Asmodeus is the weakest and most non-threatening of the Seven Deadly Sins. However, it is unknown if this is true or was just a taunt from Crimson.
- It could also be a shout-out to Dante Alighieri's The Inferno, where Lust is regarded as the least bad sin for which people are damned.
- The factory Robo Fizz briefly mentions in "Loo Loo Land", Asmodeus's factory, makes its physical debut in this episode.
- According to Sam Haft, the song Look At This! had the toughest songwriting assignment he had of the episodes that have released up until "Oops".[6]
Cultural References[]
- When Fizzarolli lists Asmodeus' duties, he is wearing glasses with blue and red lenses, which is how people watch movies in 3D.
- Wally Wackford's advertisement in the newspaper references the recurring "Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tubemen" gag from Family Guy.
- During the song "Look At This!", Fizzarolli briefly does the iconic dance that Squidward Tentacles did in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Culture Shock".
- The theme that plays during the montage of the assembly line is similar to the jazz composition "Powerhouse", best known for appearing in various Looney Tunes shorts composed by Carl Stalling as well as the bumper theme music for Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2003.
- A Cool S appears on the Asmodeus's factory's test vibrator blueprint.
- The cover of the occult book Fizzarolli briefly shows off during his song resembles the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis from the Evil Dead series of films.
- During Fizzarolli's Italian musical number of his song, he does a finger heart gesture, a trend that was popularized in South Korea.
- Crimson's lawyer's mug reading "Live Laugh Law" is a reference to real life "Live Laugh Love" house decorations.
- The "Fruity!" milk may be a reference to the slang term of the same name where it is often used to describe homosexual people or people who are assumed to be of a homosexual nature.
- Additionally, the "Creampie" whipped cream is a reference to the sexual performance of the same name.
- The phallic-shaped canons that shoot out sperm-shaped confetti from Fizzarolli's limousine may be a reference to the adult toy gun that has a similar effect, called the "Cum-fetti".
Continuity[]
- During his meeting with Stolas, Asmodeus brings up the events of "Ozzie's", where he called out Stolas being seen on a date with Blitzo.
- Also during this meeting, Stolas asked about Asmodean Crystals, which were alluded to in "The Circus" and seen in "Unhappy Campers".
- During Crimson and Striker's conversation, Striker mentions the time he kidnapped Stolas, and reveals that the events of "Western Energy" happened the week before.
- Once Fizzarolli admits he's turned on by Striker threatening to kill him, Striker angrily asks "why is it always a sex thing", referencing how in "Western Energy" when he was trying to torture or kill someone they made it sexual.
- Stolas is fully recovered and discharged from St. An's Hospital since the events of "Western Energy".
- This also means Stolas was hospitalized for about a week, and his initial appointment with Asmodeus was also delayed by a week due to the events of the aforementioned episode.
- The fake contract mentioning Crimson going to use Fizzarolli's head for a wall decoration is a callback to how the former would mount the horns and other pieces of his victims on his walls, as seen in his mansion and in his office.
- The succubus mother whose baby Loona kicked from its pram in the Helluva Boss pilot appears in the Greed Ring as one of the passersby as Fizzarolli roller-skates through the streets with his pet quieves. However, no baby is seen, and instead, bottles of alcohol fall from the pram when it's tipped over.
Errors[]
- When Fizzarolli nearly runs over Blitzo (around 4:06), Blitzo's mouth isn't lip-synched.
- When Striker turns around and walks towards the window (around 5:45), the residue from a quieve that was thrown against it suddenly disappears.
- When Crimson's lawyer is looking over the new contract (around 23:09), there is a brief moment where he is seen with his jacket off, but the pan over from Asmodeus has him wearing it before disappearing again.
- When Fizzarolli turns back and says "Both", the squiggly lines on his collar overlaps the collar's lineart.
- When Fizzarolli calls Blitzo a showoff, the tape overlapping the former's nipples during the cage scene disappear.
- During "Look At This!", in some shots Alessio disappears and reappears.
- After Fizzarolli stopped twirling mafia and Striker, Striker's tail was missing.
- In another scene of the song, Crimson's gold tooth was on his bottom-left jaw.
- In said same scene, Crimson's scar was shown on his right eye.
- During a scene in Asmodeus' kitchen, Fizzarolli's teeth are mistakenly colored white instead of their usual light blue.
- When Asmodeus first reacts to Crimson having Fizzarolli's phone, Ozzie's two head feathers disappear.
- At the beginning of the episode, Fizzarolli reminds Asmodeus that he has a meeting with Stolas at noon, 12pm, but later in the episode, Asmodeus' watch reads 4pm the moment he starts his meeting.
- During the elevator scene where Fizzarolli frowns to himself, his right arm briefly disappears.
- The outline of the real contract can be seen on Crimson's lawyer's hand when he retrieves it.
