Richard Steven Horvitz is an American voice actor and voice director. He voices Moxxie and his father in Helluva Boss and also serves as the series' voice director. He is also the voice director for the Hazbin Hotel series.[1]
He does numerous voice roles for minor characters such as Eddie, the Carnival Imp in "Loo Loo Land", and the demon child in St. An's Hospital in "Western Energy".
Background
Horvitz is known for his energetic high voice roles in various cartoons and video games, such as the titular character from Invader Zim, Daggett from The Angry Beavers, Billy from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Kaos from Skylanders, and Raz from Psychonauts, and various others. He was also the narrator for the audiobook version of Goosebumps: Attack of the Mutant.

- Kellen Goff, who was a student of Horvitz in his voice-over classes, reached out to him for Helluva Boss.[2]
- Horvitz started in musical theater when he was 10 years old and got his equity card when he was 12.[3] Richard had his first equity performance when he was 13 years old in the stage musical Oliver!.[4]
- Helluva Boss having big musical numbers is a primary reason why Horvitz was interested in participating in the project.[4]
- According to Vivziepop, before having Horvitz cast she catered the character of Moxxie to him a little because she already wanted him to voice and thought to include things he liked but hadn't really gotten to explore in previous roles. She explains that when she learned that he likes musical theater, she made it part of Moxxie's character, not realizing how much of a musical theater fan Horvitz is, and is part of what sold him on the project.[5]
- Incidentally, being interested in musical theater is a trait he shares with Moxxie.
- The second season episode "The Circus" premiered the day after Horvitz's 56th birthday.
- Horvitz's favorite episode in Helluva Boss season 1 is "Spring Broken", saying because "that's drunk Moxxie".[6]
- His favourite line is "Miiillie!! Hiii! Heyy... Hey, when did you get four heads? I wanna kiss 'em" and "A human called me a possum. I am NOT a possum!"[7]
- Vivziepop connected with Horvitz through Maxwell Atoms, but she didn't meet him until he was cast as Moxxie.[8]
- Horvitz is a fan of Invader Zim, explaining that even if he weren't in it he would still watch it because he loves the random humor.[9]
- He also loves Beavis and Butt-Head and Family Guy for their random humor as well because its silly and its fun.[9]
