Overview

"He thinks you're a brute! Too stupid to do anything but kill! You never should've left the farm! You're nothing but a backwards, filthy, inbred, lowborn, fucking hick!"
―Rolando, through Blitzo, trying to break Millie

Rolando was an infestor demon and manager of the One Star Wonder hotel in Helluva Boss. He is a minor antagonist who made his debut in the episode "Ghostf**kers".

Appearance[]

Rolando's true form, an infestor demon, had the appearance of a tall, spindly, fish-themed demon who closely resembled an eel, with grayish-turquoise skin, silver-ish light green fins, yellow eyes with no irises or pupils, and a mouth full of sharp teeth.

His attire was a uniform that consists of a dark gray-purple waistcoat over a black-green collared shirt, dark gray fingerless gloves, black dress pants that have a gray-purple gradient, and black dress shoes. He also wore pointed, yellow-framed visors with lenses that have an orange tint.

Human disguise[]

In his human disguise, Rolando retains his body shape and takes the form of a pale-skinned man with a unibrow, a small mustache, and dirty-blonde hair that is styled in a comb-over with a cut in the back and a tuft sticking out.

His outfit remains the same, albeit its shades lean to that of a hotel employee, with a red waistcoat and a grey shirt alongside black pants. In addition, his visors change to a pair of thin-framed glasses with yellow-green-tinted lenses.

Personality[]

At first, Rolando was seemingly a harmless hotel manager who come across as grumpy and cynical. He dislikes Hollywood actors, seeing them as "pushy pricks" and a nuisance, even to his hotel, however, he was willing to let Blitzo disguised Bethany Ghostfucker "film an episode" and hunt the alleged ghost that kept killing his guests. In addition, he seems unbothered over being insulted, like when he didn't mind Blitzo calling him an idiot.

As an infestor demon, his true nature is that of a sadistic and psychopathic serial killer who killed his hotel guests. He even appears to have a love for physiologically and psychologically torturing humans and even other demons, such as Blitzo, by possessing them and forcing them to watch their worst or traumatic memories. This was shown when he was laughing and enjoying himself while Blitzo was terrified being shown with his past memories. However, Rolando's arrogance soon leads to his death, as he fails to account for Millie's strong friendship with Blitzo and later Blitzo remembering to kick the ghost-sucker into the pool.

Abilities[]

  • Mental manipulation - Rolando has the power to see into his victims' minds to understand what they think and do. He can also manipulate his victim's mental cognition by creating lifelike hallucinations. By possessing someone, he can trap his victim inside their own mind, altering the mental landscape to what he chooses and showing them their most traumatic memories. The full extent of his psionic power poorly defined, given he could not only generate hallucinations, but also send mental shockwaves with a force that could make lightbulbs and granite columns crack.
  • Negativity absorption - According to Rolando himself, he is capable of feeding off of negative emotions, such as insecurity, as he says that Blitzo's insecurity was "intoxicating" and he "couldn't wait to see how he tastes once he drives Millie away" while being possessed by him.
  • Láspikinesis - He is capable of turning into a black goo-like substance, which he can use to move at great speed on land and when entering a victims mind. When he releases his hold on a victim, he exits out of their body in this form before reforming.
    • Possession - Rolando is able to possess others and take control of their bodies, and able to talk through them. This ability is not perfect, as the victim can still sense someone they have a strong attachment to even while suppressed. However, it is unknown if this will break the control Rolando has over them, given Rolando's reaction to Blitzo regaining awareness was only brief annoyance. Another weakness is that Rolando will still feel the injuries of those he possesses, as he is forced to leave Blitzo's body after Millie beats him down.
  • Human disguise - Similar to other Hellborn demons who have demonstrated this ability, Rolando has the ability to adopt a human disguise.
  • Superhuman strength - He could fight Blitzo and Millie with nothing but brute strength, tossing them around with ease.
  • Swimming - His aquatic demon form grants him the ability to move through water easily and rapidly, to the point that even Millie couldn't react fast enough.

Skillset[]

  • Hand-to-hand combat - Rolando was a skilled combatant, able to take on skilled assassins like Blitzo and Millie in a two-on-one fight and emerge nearly victorious.
    • Underwater combat - Rolando was an even deadlier combatant underwater, effortlessly trouncing Blitzo and Millie in the aforementioned two-on-one fight, and would have won had he not stopped to taunt them outside of water.

History[]

Past[]

At an unknown point of time, Rolando came to be the hotel manager of the One Star Wonder. He would mess with humans' minds at the hotel and kill those who found him out.

Helluva Boss Season 2[]

"Ghostf**kers"[]

He was the first person Blitzo and Millie met at the One Star Wonder hotel, recognizing Blitzo as Bethany Ghostfucker, explaining the disturbances at his hotel and handing him all the keys.

Later, he uses mind tricks on Blitzo, seemingly coating the vent he was in with ooze and then tilting it upwards causing him to slip. He then created illusions depicting what-if dead Millies (four of which representing a scenario where Millie could have died), as well as his mother who burns away in front of him. When Millie and Blitzo conclude that their target was actually an infestor demon and not a ghost, Rolando chases and throws them to the hotel pool room, shedding his human disguise and revealing his demon form. After a scuffle, Rolando enters Blitzo's mind, chaining him in a movie theater and forcing him to re-watch the trauma of his past.

Meanwhile, he possesses Blitzo's unconscious body and uses it to fight Millie while also using her earlier words against her, namely saying she's only good for killing and shouldn't have left Wrath. However, Millie fights back unfazed, knowing full well that Blitzo is not in control and gaining the upper hand, eventually forcing Rolando to leave Blitzo's body. Blitzo knocks Rolando into the pool and subsequently tosses his "ghost sucker" device into the water as well, electrocuting the infestor demon to death.

Trivia[]

  • He is one of the few known victims of I.M.P to be a Hellborn demon, and is the first assassination job of a Hellborn demon featured in an episode.
  • In the episode, Rolando is shown performing supernatural feats of power, such as telekinesis, teleportation, and altering the environment of the hotel itself. However, the initial events were witnessed solely by Blitzo and were implied to be hallucinations when Millie finds him; conversely, the pool lightbulbs he shattered via shockwave remain broken after his death. This makes it ambiguous whether these are indeed arcane powers Rolando possesses, the full effects of his psychic powers, or are simply part of the illusions he can create.
  • Although there are many piscine Hellborn demons in Hell, a common distinction between these demons is resemblance to a certain sea creature and/or having a shared trait, such as Chazwick Thurman and other shark-like demons sharing concentric eyes. Based on Rolando's appearance, it is possible he is related to the eel-like demons that have appeared, although he does not appear to share similarities outside of that.
